Tips for caffeine & alcohol intake with POTS

Many doctors recommend that POTS patients avoid alcohol and caffeine. Both alcohol and caffeine have been known to worsen POTS symptoms.

Caffeine raises your heart rate, which for POTS patients, is definitely not a good thing. I can’t handle caffeine anymore, it sends my heart rate through the roof.

Many of us are on beta-blockers, which lower heart rate. Caffeine does the opposite, which means it can counter the effects of your medicine.

It's a bummer when you need a pick-me-up, but I think cutting out caffeine has been in my best interest.
